Sunlord sued by Japanese Murata over electronic component patent

Shenzhen Sunlord Electronics Co., Ltd. has been sued by its Japanese competitor, Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd., over alleged patent infringements. The lawsuit, filed at the Shanghai Intellectual Property Court, involves five electronic component patents: ZL201310020785.4, ZL201610108687.X, ZL201811351471.1, ZL201580012303.8, and ZL200880100996.6, according to an announcement from Sunlord last Friday.

Murata is demanding an immediate halt to the alleged infringement activities, including the cessation of manufacturing, selling, and offering for sale all products that violate its patent rights. Additionally, Murata seeks the destruction of all infringing products and semi-finished products in stock, the removal and destruction of all related promotional materials, online links, or webpages, and compensation for legal fees and other reasonable expenses.

In response, Sunlord stated its disagreement with Murata’s claims and emphasized its intention to actively contest the litigation. The company highlighted its commitment to intellectual property, noting a 2023 R&D investment of 384 million RMB, an 8.92% increase from 2022.

Murata, a leading Japanese manufacturer of electronic components, specializes in ceramic passive electronic components, particularly capacitors. The company holds a majority market share globally in ceramic filters, high-frequency parts, and sensors.

Sunlord, based in Shenzhen, is an emerging leading supplier of electronic components. The company offers a comprehensive range of chip electronic components and is gradually capturing Murata’s market share in China. As of December 31, 2023, Sunlord holds 930 authorized domestic patents, including 365 invention patents, 553 utility model patents, and 12 design patents.
